PELATIHAN MENULIS DALAM BAHASA INGGRIS MELALUI PENERAPAN GENRE-BASED APPROACH

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve skills in writing English through the application of a genre-based approach. The method applied in this community service activity is in the form of writing training, including, (1) lectures followed by discussions between presenters and participants and participants with participants; (2) sampling and analysis; (3) writing practice by applying a genre-based approach; (4) providing feedback and discussing the results of practice; and (5) giving individual assignment. It can be concluded that this training in general can increase the knowledge and insight as well as improve the English writing skills of the employees of LIA Foundation. Participants can distinguish writing genres in English based on the characteristics of each type of text. Participants can also use the characteristics of the language in writing certain types of texts.
