Abstract

Teaching English to orphans and poor children called santri mukim is carried out at the Al Maulidiyah Foundation as a form of implementing the three duties of higher education, especially community service. Teaching English aims to help students understand and be able to communicate at a basic level of English. English learning is carried out face-to face bilingually. Several learning targets such as greeting when meeting and parting, introducing yourself and others and asking for personal information can be achieved well. However, several subsequent learning targets were not achieved due to conditions and situations related to Covid-19 which occurred suddenly. English teaching activities for orphans and poor people who live in the foundation have a positive impact on children, although not optimally. So, it is necessary to continue teaching English for the next period.
