Abstract

The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) creates new opportunities for teachers to improve lesson planning, learning material development, and competency-based assessment. However, teachers also need adequate AI literacy, critical verification skills, and clear guidelines to ensure responsible use. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ understanding of AI-assisted learning at SMK Negeri 1 Pekalongan through a one-day online workshop conducted via Zoom on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The activity covered AI concepts, limitations of large language models, structured prompting, AI-assisted lesson planning, learning material creation, assessment development, and responsible AI use for teachers and students. Evaluation was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire completed by seven respondents. The results showed an increase in participants’ overall understanding from 3.71 before the webinar to 4.29 after the webinar. Participants also reported a strong understanding of using AI for learning materials, administrative efficiency, prompting, assessment development, and responsible student guidance. The program indicates that a short, structured AI workshop can improve teachers’ readiness to adopt AI responsibly in vocational learning.
