IINARAWASHI, KAN'YŌKU, YOJIJUKUGO DALAM KOTOWAZA BAHASA JEPANG PADA KOTOWAZA KARUTA

Abstract

The research sheds light on kotowaza or Japanese proverb that is in flash card
proverbs. The research aims to find out several forms of kotowaza in flash cards which are
words of wisdom (言い習わし iinarawashi), idiomatic phrases (慣用句 kan'yōku), and
four character idioms (四字熟語 yojijukugo). In addition, It is to find out the form of the
denotative and connotative meaning of kotowaza in Japanese in the form of iinarawashi,
kan'youku, and yojijukugo in Japanese kotowaza karuta. The method used in this research
is the descriptive qualitative method. In addition, a semantic theory is used to investigate
the meaning of denotational and connotational meanings. The results show that the number
of Japanese proverbs in kotowaza karuta comprises 39 kotowaza karuta data included in
kotowaza iinarawashi, 5 kotowaza karuta data included in kotowaza kan'youku, and for
kotowaza yojijukugo not found in this Japanese kotowaza karuta. There are 13 Japanese
proverbs in kotowaza karuta which have differences between their denotative and
connotative meaning. Therefore, not all Japanese proverbs in kotowaza karuta can be
interpreted only based on their denotative meanings. Moreover, There are 27 kotowaza
karuta that have equivalent meanings in Indonesian proverbs.
