Abstract

This study aims to provide an understanding of translating metaphors from
Japanese into Indonesian in the lyrics of songs composed by AIMER. The song is
titled "I Beg You" which has been translated by a freelance translator named
Natalia S. Laurita. The theory of meaning component analysis by Nida is used as
a tool to analyze the data found, assisted by metaphorical theories and their types
by Newmark and translation techniques by Moentaha. In the song "I Beg You"
there are three data translating metaphors, and after analysis found one data that is
not commensurate because of the mismatch reference meaning of the metaphor.
On the other hand, the other two data indicate equivalence because they reference
relevant meaning.
