This study aims to analyze the translation procedures used to translate gairaigo type words in the Dear Boys comic in Japanese and their translation into Indonesian using the theory of translation procedures proposed by Peter Newmark. The source of data used in this research is the comic Dear Boys vol 1-10 by Hiroki Yagami. In this study, the research model used is a comparative model, because the data comes from the text in the comics and their translated texts and the research method used is a qualitative approach. The data analyzed amounted to 21 pieces of data. Based on the results of the analysis, there are 19 commensurate data and two dissimilar data. In this article, four pieces of data are attached and one of them has incompatible translations. The translation procedures used in this study are 1) transference, 2) naturalization, 3) cultural matching, 4) neutralization, 5) analysis of components of meaning, 6) reduction and expansion, 7) couplet, 8) compensation, 9) footnotes, 10) synonyms, and 11) direct translation. In translating words of the gairaigo type, sometimes the meaning contained in Japanese can be different from the language in which the word originates. One way to be able to interpret the meaning correctly into the intended target language is to know the existing translation procedures. In this way, Japanese translators and learners are expected to be able to produce good translations and be well-accepted in the target language.
