STRATEGI PENERJEMAHAN GITAIGO PADA KOMIK NARUTO VOLUME 46

Abstract

This scientific work focused on research related to the translation of onomatopoeic words, especially gitaigo, in Indonesian and Japanese. The purpose of this study was to determine the similarities and differences in onomatopoeic word forms and onomatopoeic translation strategies between the two languages. An understanding of the basics of onomatopoeic translation was quite important for translators to be able to produce accurate translations. In this scientific paper a descriptive qualitative method was used. The authors used the gitaigo onomatopoeic data source contained in the Naruto comic volume 46 in Indonesian and Japanese. The analysis of similarities and differences in sound writing was carried out based on the theory proposed by Hamano (1998) and for the analysis of translation strategies based on the theory proposed by Molina and Albir (2002). The authors found 25 data contained in the Naruto comic volume 46 and raised 6 data as an example of analysis. Based on the results of the sample data analysis, the authors concluded that 5 data had the same writing sound in the source language and target language, and 1 data had a writing difference. In translating onomatopoeic sounds, from the 25 data, the translator used generalization strategies for 24 times, i.e using more general or neutral terms in the target language, so the reader can easily recognize the related sounds. And in 1 data there was found a different strategie, a borrowing strategie—that was used.
